Abstract
Description
The purpose of the project was the geometric and structural design for the pavement restoration of the Boulevard Fuerzas Armadas in La Lima, Cortés through the use of whitetopping. The objective of this pavement restoration was to provide safe vehicular traffic that complies with all national codes. construction site for highways established. For the design of the whitetopping work, fundamental aspects were taken, such as a topographic study, soil quality, distances, angles and slopes of the boulevard, vehicular traffic and measurement of existing pavement damage in order to comply with all established quality standards. The methodology used is quantitative, because the values of the domain of variation are counted and measured. The design of the vertical and horizontal alignment was maintained respecting the original design of the road, except for small changes in the slopes, always respecting the maximum and minimum values allowed by the AASHTO standard. The rigid pavement was designed for a period of 10 years and the average CBR value was 34 and a reaction modulus of 108 mpa/m, which allows the existing pavement to be used as a base. When designing the pavement, a thickness of 100 millimeters of hydraulic concrete was obtained without voussoirs due to its thickness and the separation between joints. The environmental categorization was made through a request to the General Directorate of Environmental Evaluation and Control (DECA) which ensures the mandatory application of the environmental impact assessment for all projects.
