La subcontratación, también conocida como externalización o outsourcing, es un proceso
mediante el cual una empresa (contratista) delega la realización de determinadas actividades, tareas
o servicios a otra empresa o a un proveedor externo (contratista). La empresa cliente transfiere
temporalmente la responsabilidad y gestión de estas actividades a la empresa que presta los
servicios externos.
La subcontratación puede cubrir una variedad de funciones y áreas dentro de una
organización, como servicios de tecnología de la información (TI), servicio al cliente, recursos
humanos, contabilidad, manufactura y otros.
